Position Description:

The Warehouse Team Lead is responsible for assisting the leadership group in building and directing an effective team that takes pride in exceeding customer expectations.  The Warehouse Team Lead is responsible for assisting all fabrication, shipping, receiving, maintenance, and administrative activities at the team level, ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality control programs.  The Warehouse Team Lead accomplishes this by proactively being involved with team members, setting clear expectations for them, motivating them, and developing them into people who can work effectively and efficiently as a team to produce, stage and load/unload processed products and materials.  This position also ensures that identification, traceability, and accuracy of material for shipments meets or exceeds the standards and requirements of the customer, and they teach every member of their team to do the same. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist and oversee day-to-day production, operational, and warehouse activities.
  • Coach and develop individuals to process and move product effectively and safely to serve customers well.
  • Train and coach facility personnel to understand and comply with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in facility safety meetings.
  • Follow and enforce company safety polices and safe work practices at all times to ensure safety of self and others
  • Oversee subordinates to ensure shift goals and quality expectations are achieved.
  • Coordinate personnel schedules to ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure audit and material traceability procedures are followed throughout the facility.
  • Work in a productive, safe, team-oriented manner with employees, truck drivers, management, and outside customers.
  • Review and develop recommendations to facility management to promote continual improvement of all processes.
  • Responsible for the physical operation of the warehouse ensuring that the building, equipment, and land are properly maintained.

 

Physical & Work Requirements:

  • Must possess the ability to work a flexible schedule and to be on-call at various times including possible weekends and holidays.
  • Working in a yard or warehouse facility within OSHA guidelines; conditions may be heated and/or unheated, dusty and noisy; steel-toed boots required daily.
  • Fast-paced, moderately stressful, constantly changing day-to-day work environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Wear proper PPE at all times (as described in company policy)

 

Required Background, Competencies & Expertise:

  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and in-depth knowledge of processing equipment operation.
  • Excellent people / communication skills to deal with a variety of personalities.
  • Experienced team builder.
  • Proven ability to analyze problems and execute short- and long-term tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license and must pass a background check.

Preferred Background, Competencies & Expertise:

  • Advanced First Aid/ CPR training strongly desired.
