Position: Warehouse Distribution Supervisor
Location: Sparks, NV.
Reports To: General Manager
Job Scope
Responsible for coordinating and directing the daily activities of the assigned areas of the warehouse, including leadership, labor planning/scheduling, coaching, and developing a team of individuals, in a manner consistent with established company performance metrics. Takes ownership of safety which includes safety audits, safety education, and integrating safety into all strategic planning. Responsible for creation of continuous improvement strategic plan based on assigned metrics and KPIs. Develops and trains employees and advises management of improved methods of training. Uses Lean Manufacturing tools and methodologies to minimize waste and maximize efficiency. This position will require both visibility and hands on performance on warehouse floor.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Safety
· Ensures compliance with established safety procedures and OSHA requirements
· Understands, enforces, and follows all safety initiatives as given by management
· Advises Management and Safety Officer regarding safety hazards identified in department
· Conducts weekly safety audit and reports findings to Management and Safety Officer
· Tracks and follows up on near misses, incidents, injuries, and safety infractions
Quality
· Leads with a commitment to total internal and external customer satisfaction
· Identifies and investigates quality incidents using root cause analysis
· Provides coaching and feedback to employees regarding quality performance
· Analyzes current processes to identify potential quality failure points and provides advice on correction
Delivery
· Monitors order cycle time and lead time and reports out daily/weekly to Management
· Investigates excessive lead time and cycle time orders and advises change to correct
· Identifies process bottlenecks and proposes solution/mitigation steps
· Works closely with Customer Service Supervisor and or Lead, to identify priority orders and coordinates needed efforts to expedite shipments
· Other duties as assigned
· Represent Schluter Systems L.P. in a professional, positive, and enthusiastic manner in all matters
People
· Provides daily coaching to associates using established site methods and keeps accurate record
· Executes weekly one-on-one meetings with department leads and assists with creating personal development plans
· Conducts monthly one-on-one meetings with department employees focused on barrier breakdown and solutions to resolve
· Creates staffing plans based on forecasted needs and established efficiency goals
· Creates and executes a cross-training strategy to create and maintain a flexible workforce
· Delivers appropriate disciplinary action in partnership with HR and Management
· Communicates needed overtime to employees and Management, and leads overtime shifts
· Assists with yearly employee evaluations
Continuous Improvement
· Conducts daily Gemba walk focusing on individual process paths and provides findings to Management
· Creates, tests, and oversees execution of continuous improvement plans using established methods (Kaizen, PDCA, Project Management, SixSigma)
· Uses statistical methods to identify, analyze, and control process variation and creates process improvements to eliminate or mitigate variation
· Routinely analyzes floor layout to ensure ideal flow of material and provides recommendations for re-layout where needed
· Uses visual management tools to communicate continuous improvement initiatives, KPIs, and progress to established goals.
Skills & Requirements
· College degree in Business Administration, Management, or Logistics preferred
· Five (5) years of experience in warehouse distribution operations, two (2) of which being a front-line team leader
· Experience with staffing requirements planning and forecasting
· Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Total Quality Management, Lean Manufacturing, PDCA/Deming Cycle, etc.) preferred
· Experience with quality control strategies (statistical process control, SixSigma, random sampling, etc.)
· Experience with layout strategies (Velocity, seasonality, Planogram, etc.)
· Experience with the use of an ERP system and WMS
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint (advanced proficiency in Excel preferred)
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
· Strong decision making and problem solving
· Ability to train, lead, coach, mentor and motivate a team in a process-driven environment
· Capable of working with cross-functional teams, both locally and internationally
· Passion for continuous improvement and employee development
· Good attendance is required

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base pay offered will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for additional benefits to the base pay range listed above.
