VGM Fulfillment is a national leader in CPAP machine and resupply order fulfillment. As an employee-owned company, every person at VGM has a personal stake in seeing business succeed. We do this by taking responsibility from our customers for the key operations of order fulfillment: picking, packing, shipping, and inventory management. Our network of fulfillment centers is strategically located throughout the United States providing coverage to all 50 states. This role needs to be present onsite at our warehouse location in Lebanon, TN.

Job Purpose Summary:  

As the shift supervisor, this role will be responsible for the leadership and management of warehouse staff while also overseeing inventory movement, quality standards, and operations within the warehouse. As supervisor, it is important that you have an expert understanding and knowledge of all outbound, inbound, inventory, and quality activities affecting the business and its operations. This role is accountable to the site manager and is responsible for departmental and shift applicable key performance indicators [KPIs]. As a team leader and expert in operational standards, the supervisor is expected to be available to assist the team whenever possible or necessary. The ability to effectively lead a team is imperative to success as site supervisor.  

Functions of the Shift Supervisor role will include operating a forklift, reach truck, or electric pallet jack. Operation of this equipment is considered safety-sensitive falls within the parameters of VGM Fulfillment’s Drug-free Workplace Policy.  

Reporting Accountability: Site Manager  

Working Location:  On-Site - Lebanon, TN 

Work Hours Classification: Full-time weekend shift: Friday–Sunday, 6:00am–6:30pm, with the expectation of completing approximately four weeks of training on first shift (Monday–Friday, 6:30am–3:00pm) or until manager determines readiness.

Key Responsibilities: 

Warehouse Operations  

  • Oversee and execute daily production, shift, and departmental goals and tasks as defined by the site manager 
  • Allocate resources and labor as needed to meet goals 
  • Maintain thorough understanding of standard operating procedures and ensure ability to answer any questions relating to standard procedures 
  • Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards and complete all necessary documentation; ensure the appropriate corrective action is taken
  • Responsible for implementation of health and safety, security, and compliance initiatives, practices and behaviors and adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Operate material handling devices like forklifts, follow safety procedures, maintain precise records of all product movements, and implement quality control measures
  • Maintain a clear and organized work environment to prevent accidents and injuries by ensuring all work areas are kept tidy and free of hazards by regularly cleaning and organizing tools, equipment, and materials
  • Maintain compliance, safety, and quality standards by ensuring strict adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of standard operating procedures and answer any questions relating to the procedures 
  • Assist with safety inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards and complete all necessary documentation

Team Leadership  

  • Responsible for leading and developing assigned team members, inclusive of completing annual reviews, weekly timecards, and any time off requests 
  • Develop team members through consistent feedback, performance managing as needed and in collaboration with manager and HR 
  • Provide direct and indirect supervision of employees
  • Lead by example in following safety protocols and encouraging reporting of safety concerns 
  • Train employees on operational, inventory, and quality standards, procedures, and protocols 
  • Communicate regularly with and report on team performance to leadership
  • Set a positive example through personal attendance and time management
  • Be willing and adapt to change to support business objectives

  • Be available to adjust schedule as needed to provide adequate support to the business 
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment to achieve business goals and growth opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

 

Key Qualifications: 

  • Ability to consistently communicate with other VGMF and VGM Group personnel in person and via Microsoft Office 365 products
  • Ability to enforce and uphold VGM policies and procedures
  • Ability to develop, influence, and coach direct and indirect reports
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize key warehouse initiatives
  • Ability to delegate, follow up, and hold themselves and others accountable
  • Ability to understand and speak to departmental KPIs 
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime 
  • Demonstrate exemplary verbal and written communication skills 

 

Education: 

  • High School diploma or GED

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the facility 75% of the workday
  • Ability to lift, push, and slide product and equipment typically weighing up to 15lbs, and some weighing up to 30lbs
  • Ability to react quickly and move quickly to various locations throughout the building as needed by the operation
  • At least 50% of daily time dedicated to being “on the floor” available to assist associates and other personnel
  • Strict adherence to all physical safety standards
  • Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision and peripheral vision
