JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Outbound Warehouse Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Warehouse Operations

LED BY: Warehouse Manager

FSLA STATUS: Non-Exempt 

HOURS: FT; 40 hours/week, occasional overtime

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Supervise the outbound team in the day-to-day operation and function. The Warehouse Supervisor’s main task is to ensure the outbound teams are safely following all Warehouse policies and procedures while fulfilling orders, and to ensure that the material handler is replenishing all needed products for the order fulfillment specialists in an accurate and efficient manner. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for investigating shortages to agencies and audit pallets that are prepared and staged by the outbound team. The Warehouse Supervisor will acquire the working knowledge on how to create agency orders, register, pick, and post warehouse shipments and generate end of day reports, they also provides backup support to the Warehouse Manager as it relates to Outbound procedures.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner, follow all safety rules as listed within the safety manual and comply with any additional supervisory communication relating to safety practices and procedures.
  • Oversee the warehouse operators and daily productivity (pounds per hour).
  • Create & register orders, post warehouse shipment and other transactions in the warehouse management system.
  • Ensure that outbound product requirement is replenished and ready prior to the warehouse operator’s arrival.
  • Complete all paperwork for each outbound order as required, including checklists.
  • Randomly audit orders filled from pick lists for accuracy and safe practices. Report discrepancies to Warehouse Manager.
  • Interact with inventory management system to maintain accurate product location.
  • Observe employee performance, coach, and counsel, maintain written records. 
  • Track & monitor working hours on ADP and manage PTO requests.  
  • Utilize best practices to efficiently assist the team to achieve their optimum pounds per hour. 
  • Report any inventory discrepancies discovered during picking to an Inventory Specialist.
  • Monitor all product moves with handheld or lift-mounted barcode reading terminals.
  • Process accurate and appropriate paperwork including processing daily orders and end of day reports and recaps. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation of the food bank warehouse.
  • Follow safety regulations relating to OSHA or other company-related regulations.
  • Perform other warehouse duties assigned by the Warehouse Manager, to include, but not limited to: pull, fill, load, unload, move, and process agency orders as needed to accomplish daily warehouse goals.

Staff management

  • Conduct daily meetings/huddles to ensure employees understand their work assignments and are aware of department and SHH wide information.  
  • Direct and redirect activities on the floor during each workday. 
  • Set and regularly communicate expectations, goals, and objectives. 
  • Provide training to warehouse staff to assist them in achieving productivity and accuracy goals.
  • Ensure that the responsibilities and accountability of all subordinates are defined and understood. Establish goals and objectives for each department employee, monitor progress and provide necessary coaching and corrective action to enable them to meet those goals.  
  • Ensure workload is distributed equitably by monitoring overtime and task assignments. 
  • Partner with the Warehouse Manager and HR to conduct coaching and corrective action which may include delivering written warnings and/or the termination of an employee.

  • Train, motivate, and monitor the team in all tasks. Set an example of professionalism in behavior and in outstanding reliability. 
  • Make sound decisions, troubleshoot, and solve problems as they arise 
  • Set an example for others by promoting safety practices in the warehouse.

  • Perform other duties as assigned in the warehouse.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered. 
  • 4-6 years of experience.
  • Experience in a multi-temperature distribution environment and managing perishable food inventories.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Forklift and pallet jack experience
  • Understanding of Inventory principles
  • Ability to work effectively with designated computer software (Windows and Navision)
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics with strong spatial relations and conceptual capabilities
  • Ability to adapt to varied work requirements and be flexible
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff and volunteers to ensure agencies are receiving 100% of their order
  • Ability to ensure proper training of personnel for maximum productivity
  • Ability to minimize waste by ensuring FIFO is being applied properly
  • Be able to effectively cross train effectively perform the other Level 3 position
  • Ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone is welcomed and valued.
  • Ability to both speak and write in English
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain 99% inventory accuracy of CSFP product.
