JOB SUMMARY

The Stockroom Supervisor provides direct supervision for receiving, stocking, loading and unloading merchandise, picking and operating heavy-duty equipment. Provides direction for directing, controlling and monitoring of the warehousing and distribution of materials or finished goods. This role ensures the accuracy of stockroom and material handling operations in a process-driven, regulated manufacturing environment. This role receives predetermined work assignments for ensuring the security and accountability of materials and goods with inventory control. Ensure materials are available to meet production schedules and / or products are shipped as per marketing schedules. Establishes and modifies operational methods and procedures. Maintains documentation to reflect the effectiveness and efficiency of department activities. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Decisions at this level primarily impact short-term schedules and operational flow.

COMPLEXITY & PROBLEM SOLVING

Works on issues of limited scope. Follows established practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Monitors daily/weekly operations of a unit or sub-unit. This role may also lead into working on issues requiring the analysis of data, relevant factors and resolving problems. Exercises judgment and interpretation to help define procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.

SCOPE OF SUPERVISION

Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of employees. Assign tasks and monitors work at frequent intervals. Maintains schedules and workflow of the team. A portion of time is normally spent performing individual tasks related to the unit or sub-unit. Generally, supervises semi-skilled employees (e.g., assemblers, operators, packagers, material tracking, clerical). Provides input to managing costs related to a unit or subunit. This role may grow to include providing continued direct supervision to professional individual contributors and/or skilled, support individual contributors (e.g., technicians, lab assistants, designers, support personnel). Acts as guide to unit or sub-units and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems. Provides input and contributes to managing costs related to a unit or subunit.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

Daily Operations & Workflow

  • Supervise daily      stockroom activities including receiving, storage, material movement,      picking, kitting, issuing, and inventory transactions.
  • Execute routine      operational tasks in alignment with weekly plans, production schedules,      and established procedures.
  • Monitor unit or      sub-unit performance to ensure service levels, accuracy, and timeliness      targets are met.
  • Identify and      resolve routine operational issues that may cause schedule delays.

Team Supervision & Task Assignment

  • Provide immediate      supervision to a unit or group of stockroom and material handling      employees.
  • Assign tasks,      prioritize work, and monitor progress at frequent intervals.
  • Maintain staffing      plans, work schedules, and daily assignments to meet operational      requirements.
  • Spend a portion of      time performing individual tasks alongside the team as required to support      operations.

Process Adherence & Problem Solving

  • Direct      subordinates using established policies, procedures, and work      instructions.
  • Address issues of      limited scope using defined practices where answers can be readily      obtained.
  • Escalate non-routine      or systemic issues to management as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance      with company policies, safety standards, and applicable military/defense      requirements.

Communication & Coordination

  • Interact daily      with team members and functional peer groups such as production, planning,      quality, and shipping.
  • Exchange and      present straightforward operational information clearly and accurately.
  • Communicate      expectations, priorities, and changes in a timely and professional manner.

Inventory & Cost Awareness

  • Support accurate      material tracking, inventory integrity, and transaction discipline.
  • Provide input to      managing costs related to the stockroom or sub-unit, including labor      efficiency and material handling practices.
  • Assist with      inventory counts, audits, and discrepancy resolution as directed.

Skills & Competencies

  • Working knowledge      of stockroom, warehousing, or material handling operations
  • Ability to      supervise and direct semi-skilled employees

  • Basic      understanding of manufacturing and operating environment

Experience & Education

  • Typically requires      prior experience in stockroom, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing      operations
  • Previous lead or      informal supervisory experience preferred
  • High-volume      manufacturing or regulated environment experience is a plus

Level & Impact (Supervisor M1 Alignment)

  • Receives process-driven,      predetermined work assignments with moderate oversight
  • Supervises day-to-day      operations of a unit or sub-unit
  • Works on issues of      limited scope using established procedures
  • Meets unit      performance targets on a weekly basis
  • Erroneous      decisions primarily result in short-term schedule delays
  • Provides cost      input at the unit or sub-unit level
Requirements

  

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

Preferred minimum of 5+ years of related experience or education and experience combination to include 1-2 years prior supervisory or lead experience within a similar industry. Preferred experience within stockroom, warehouse, logistics or manufacturing operations. Preferred experience with high-volume manufacturing or regulated environment experience, such as regulated shipping, parts, or otherwise export requirements or similar that showcase a good understanding of requirements related to materials and supply chain.
