Austin Bazaar is looking for a detail-oriented Returns Specialist to inspect returned instruments and equipment, document their condition, and support our warehouse returns process. This role combines musical instrument knowledge, organization, and accurate recordkeeping to protect product quality and keep inventory moving efficiently. Work Schedule & Holiday Availability On-site at our warehouse in Hutto, Texas . 10-hour workdays during the holiday season , with plenty of overtime opportunities. Availability throughout our busy holiday season is essential. A holiday time-off blackout period applies during peak season. Candidates must be able to meet attendance and scheduling requirements during this period. This is a 1099 position with possibility of full time after 90 days of successful completion. What You’ll Do Inspect and test returned products: Evaluate musical instruments, audio equipment, and accessories for damage, missing components, functionality, and resale condition. Document your findings: Record clear inspection notes, take photos, and update return details and product condition in our inventory system. Process returns accurately: Follow procedures for restocking, vendor returns, or disposal, escalating items that require further review. Keep inventory organized: Ensure returned products are correctly identified, labeled, stored, and tracked. Collaborate with other teams: Work with Customer Engagement, warehouse, and shipping teams to resolve discrepancies and provide timely updates. Flag potential issues: Report mismatched products, unusual return conditions, and suspected fraudulent returns for review. Support quality improvements: Identify recurring defects, damage patterns, and missing-item issues. What We’re Looking For Working knowledge of musical instruments and related equipment , gained through playing, retail, repair, or relevant warehouse experience. Ability to assess product condition, recognize common issues, and explain findings clearly. Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills. Comfort using computers, entering data, and learning inventory management systems. Clear communication skills and a practical, solution-oriented approach. Ability to stay organized, handle multiple returns, and follow issues through to completion. Dependability, teamwork, and careful handling of instruments and equipment. Ability to perform hands-on warehouse duties, including lifting and moving instruments and equipment, with reasonable accommodation as needed. Preferred Experience Returns processing, inventory control, quality inspection, or warehouse operations. Musical instrument retail, repair, setup, or troubleshooting.
