Warehouse Receiver - Specialty 5am Start

River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA.

General Description/Purpose:

The Receiver is responsible for accurately and efficiently receiving inbound freight and ensuring that its quality meets our customer’s expectations. The Receiver reports to the First Shift Supervisor

 
Job Responsibilities:

• Arrive on time for the start of the scheduled shift
• Perform a pre-operation inspection of any equipment being used in the receiving process
• Accurate receive items and palletize them for put away
• Adhere to HACCP requirements of refrigerated loads
• Follow company and SQF guidelines when handling products, including the handling of damaged cases found during receiving
• Ensure pallets are properly wrapped to ensure stability though the warehouse
• Operate equipment in a safe manner at all times
• Verify, UPD, Description, and Pack Size of item being received
• Additional duties (selecting, cleaning, replenishing bays, or others) as requested by supervisor

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Ability to read, speak and understand English in order to understand supervisor instructions 
• Organized, self-motivated and have good communication skills
• Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment 
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screening test
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work
• Ability to use the RF gun

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Prior receiving experience (Preferred, not required)

Physical Requirements:

• Able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods of time
• Able to lift 75 pounds consistently throughout shift

Work Schedule:

• Monday- Friday 5am-1:45pm

Wages:

• $20.00 per hour
