Position Summary The Warehouse and Product Specialist is a hands-on position responsible for the day-to-day flow of products through UMECC's small warehouse, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, product inspection, and mechanical assembly. The position also communicates directly with customers and carriers, prepares quotations for established product and replacement-part needs, and supports order and logistics coordination. The successful candidate will train alongside an experienced, long-tenured team member and progressively develop the product knowledge and judgment needed to become an independent resource for warehouse operations, customers, and the broader UMECC team. This role is well suited to a dependable, mechanically inclined person who is equally comfortable working with tools, business systems, and customers. Key Responsibilities • Receive inbound shipments and verify quantities and items against packing slips, purchase orders, and supporting documentation. • Inspect incoming and outgoing parts for condition, workmanship, dimensions, and conformance with drawings or specifications using basic measurement tools. • Identify, document, and communicate shortages, damage, quality concerns, and other discrepancies; segregate rejected or nonconforming material when appropriate. • Pull, package, label, palletize, and prepare customer orders for parcel or freight shipment, including Bills of Lading and related shipping documents. • Coordinate carrier pickups and deliveries, obtain freight information, track delayed or lost shipments, and assist with claims when needed. • Maintain accurate physical inventory, warehouse locations, labels, and transaction records; perform cycle counts and help reconcile differences. • Enter and maintain accurate information in QuickBooks, Excel, customer portals, shipping platforms, and other company systems. • Assemble replacement parts, subassemblies, and slide-gate products using bills of material, drawings, written instructions, and common hand and power tools. • Respond to routine customer inquiries regarding established products, replacement parts, order status, and logistics; prepare quotations and order documentation using approved pricing and processes. • Work with sales, product managers, purchasing, accounting, and other team members to resolve customer, product, inventory, and shipping issues. • Operate a forklift and manual pallet jack safely and follow all required training, inspection, PPE, and warehouse safety procedures. • Keep the warehouse, work areas, and shared facilities clean, orderly, and safe, and assist with other operational work as needed in a small-company environment. Required Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent. • Relevant experience in warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, inventory, industrial customer service, mechanical assembly, or a similar hands-on environment. • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn product applications, part identification, drawings, bills of material, and assembly procedures. • Strong attention to detail and a consistent record of dependable attendance and follow-through. • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills for working with customers, carriers, vendors, and coworkers. • Comfort using computers and learning systems such a…
