Warehouse Lead Hand
Tompkins CanadaAbout the Role Tompkins Canada is looking for an experienced and dependable Warehouse Lead Hand to join our Brantford Operations team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys working alongside the team while helping keep daily warehouse operations organized, safe, and on schedule. The Warehouse Lead Hand will provide day-to-day direction to warehouse staff, help prioritize workload, troubleshoot issues on the floor, and support the Plant Supervisor with scheduling, training, and maintaining operational standards. What You'll Do Provide day-to-day direction and support to the warehouse team. Prepare and adjust daily work priorities based on order volume, shipping deadlines, inbound shipments, and staffing. Monitor workflow and reassign tasks as needed to meet shipping cut-offs and operational requirements. Act as a go-to resource for warehouse staff and assist with day-to-day problem-solving. Train and coach new and existing employees on warehouse procedures, safe material handling, and scanning processes. Oversee receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping activities to support accurate and timely order fulfillment. Use NetSuite and RF-SMART to track inventory movement, fulfillments, and location transfers. Investigate inventory discrepancies, mis-picks, and cycle count variances. Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts and spot checks. Ensure forklifts, scanners, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment are used safely and appropriately. Promote and reinforce warehouse safety, housekeeping, and PPE requirements. Identify opportunities to improve warehouse workflow, layout, and overall efficiency. Support the implementation of new procedures and process improvements. Assist with Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) deliveries when required. What We're Looking For Previous warehouse experience is required. Previous Lead Hand, supervisory, or informal team-lead experience is an asset. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage changing priorities in a busy warehouse environment. Clear and confident communication skills with the ability to direct, support, and coach coworkers. Experience with warehouse management systems; NetSuite and RF-SMART experience is an asset , or a willingness to learn. Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification. Reliable, safety-focused, and comfortable leading by example. Ability to regularly stand, walk, perform manual material handling, and lift up to 50 lbs.
