Warehouse Lead - Wood Buffalo Food Bank Association Fort McMurray, Alberta Full-Time, 40 hours per week, Primarily 9:00am-5:00pm Be a hands-on leader behind a vital community operation The Wood Buffalo Food Bank is looking for a dependable, hands-on Warehouse Lead who can guide the team, keep daily operations organized, and help ensure food and donations move safely and efficiently through the warehouse. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being part of a team, takes pride in keeping things organized, and is comfortable stepping up to provide direction when needed. You’ll work alongside staff and volunteers to receive and organize food donations, prepare food for distribution, coordinate daily warehouse priorities, and help ensure everything runs safely and efficiently. No two days at the Food Bank are exactly the same. One day you may be coordinating a large donation delivery, the next you may be supporting volunteers, preparing hampers, completing a community pickup, or helping the team work through a busy day in the warehouse. What You’ll Do As the Warehouse Lead, you’ll work closely with the Executive Director to support the day-to-day coordination of the warehouse. Your responsibilities will include: Coordinating daily warehouse activities, priorities, and workflow. Providing day-to-day direction and support to warehouse staff and volunteers. Receiving, sorting, organizing, storing, and tracking incoming food donations. Supporting the preparation and movement of food hampers and inventory. Helping maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient warehouse. Ensuring food storage, food safety, and inventory rotation practices are followed. Monitoring refrigerator and freezer temperatures and maintaining required records. Coordinating and completing donation pickups from grocery stores, schools, businesses, and community partners. Safely loading, transporting, and unloading donations using Food Bank vehicles and equipment. Welcoming, orienting, and supporting volunteers working in the warehouse. Assigning tasks and helping ensure staff and volunteers understand safe work practices and warehouse procedures. Maintaining accurate donation, inventory, and warehouse records. Identifying operational, equipment, food safety, or workplace safety concerns and communicating them to the Executive Director Supporting food drives, community events, fundraising initiatives, and other Food Bank activities when required. What You Bring We’re looking for someone who is practical, reliable, approachable, and comfortable taking initiative. You should be able to work independently when needed while also being someone others can count on for direction and support. The successful candidate will have: A high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in warehouse operations, logistics, food distribution, or a similar environment. Experience providing leadership, supervision, or day-to-day direction to staff or volunteers. A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence with a satisfactory driving record. The ability to provide a recent Driver’s Abstract. Forklift certification and experience operating a forklift. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Clear and respectful communication skills. The ability to prioritize and adapt when needs change throughout the day. A collaborative approach and the ability to build positive relationships with staff, volunteers, donors, clients, and community partners. Experience operating a cube truck or working within a food bank, nonprofit, community service, or food distribution environment would be considered an asset.
