UtilisouthAbout the job About us UtiliSouth is an underground utility contractor that builds fiber-optic networks across the Southeast. We’re opening a new yard in Pooler to support our growth, and we need someone to run it. About the role This is a new position, and the person in it keeps our crews moving. You'll make sure material comes in, gets counted and goes out to the right crew. You'll keep our equipment on its maintenance schedule, and you'll help keep everyone safe. You don't need experience in our industry. We'll train you on the forklift, on our fleet software and on safety. What we need from you is organization, follow-through and a willingness to learn. What you'll do Warehouse and inventory · Unload delivery trucks with a forklift or hand truck. Loads include pallets of vaults and flowerpots, conduit reels, fiber reels, splice enclosures and other construction materials. · Check every delivery against the packing list or purchase order, and report damage or shortages the same day. · Receive, label and stage material so it's easy to find and ready for each project. · Sign material out to crews and keep accurate records of what went where. · Run regular inventory counts, fix any discrepancies, and flag items that are running low. · Keep the yard and warehouse clean, organized and safe. Fleet and equipment · Keep an up-to-date list of company equipment and where it is. · Track and schedule preventive maintenance in our fleet software (Fleetio). · Coordinate repairs and service with outside vendors and mechanics. You don't need to be a mechanic. · Track inspections, registrations and other renewals so nothing lapses. Safety · Prepare short safety topics on construction and warehouse hazards. · Lead weekly safety huddles and toolbox talks, and keep sign-in records. · Walk the yard regularly and fix or report hazards. Office support · Cross-train with our office manager and help with administrative work as needed. What we're looking for Required · High school diploma or GED · Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record · Willingness to learn to operate a forklift and earn certification (we provide the training) · Highly organized, with strong follow-through and attention to detail · Comfortable with basic computer use: email, spreadsheets and learning new software · Comfortable speaking in front of a small group, or willing to get there · Able to lift 75 lbs, stand and walk for long periods, and work outdoors in all weather, including Savannah heat A plus, but not required · Experience in a warehouse, parts room, receiving or shipping role · Forklift certification · Experience with inventory or fleet software · OSHA 10 or other safety training Training we provide · Forklift operator training and certification · OSHA 10-Hour Construction within your first 60 days · Fleetio training and certification · Cross-training with our office manager Schedule Early start, between 6:00 and 7:00 AM. Expect about 45 hours a week, which includes regular overtime. Choose between Monday through Friday, or four 10-hour days plus a short Friday.
