Position Overview Reporting to management, this role is approximately 99% dedicated to high-volume meter scrapping and material breakdown. Working at a dedicated workstation, you will dismantle meters into distinct parts using basic hand tools and hammers, weigh and sort components, and maintain rigorous warehouse organization. Alongside hands-on physical labor, this role includes assigned administrative inventory duties, software tracking, communicating updates with teammates and management, and a strong preference for candidates with good administrative and computer skills. Key Responsibilities Perform high-volume, hands-on dismantling of meters at a workstation, breaking them down into separate material components using hammers and basic hand tools Accurately weigh, sort, and organize scrapped components to maintain a clean, highly structured workflow and efficient material processing pipeline Monitor and record recovery yields by categorizing metals, plastics, and brass components accurately during the breakdown process to ensure maximum scrap value recovery Handle administrative inventory duties as assigned, including updating internal software systems, tracking processed materials, and maintaining digital records Coordinate the placement, swapping, and hauling of full scrap collection bins with logistics or yard staff to prevent workstation bottlenecks and maintain a clear floor Maintain tidy storage areas, staging zones, and workstations while assisting with heavy manual labor, standing for long periods, and conducting daily pre-use safety inspections of tools Partner seamlessly with other warehouse associates and management to share daily output updates, reconcile inventory counts, and communicate operational progress Strictly adhere to health and safety protocols for manual labor and tool usage across all daily operations Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent educational background Previous hands-on experience in warehousing, general labor, manufacturing, or a fast-paced industrial environment Physical capability to perform heavy manual labor, frequent lifting, using hand tools/hammers, and standing for extended periods Strong attention to detail, reliability, and comfort with both physical shop-floor work and computerized inventory tasks Previous experience or background in administrative tasks is considered an asset Reliable mode of transportation to the facility location KTI Utility Services is committed to providing a barrier-free environment for our employees, customers, job applicants, and visitors.
