Warehouse Associate / Forklift Operator Overview SWIFT Delivery Systems is seeking a dependable, organized, and safety-focused Warehouse Associate / Forklift Operator to join our team. This hands-on role is responsible for warehouse operations, inventory management, freight handling, receiving, and loading activities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, operating forklifts and material handling equipment, unloading and loading trailers, straight trucks, and flat decks, and maintaining an organized warehouse. Strong communication, multitasking, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role. Duties & Responsibilities Safely operate forklifts, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. Load and unload trailers, straight trucks, and flat decks using the appropriate equipment and safe handling procedures. Receive and inspect incoming freight and small package shipments for accuracy and damage. Pick, stage, and prepare orders for delivery and customer pickups. Maintain accurate inventory records and communicate daily inventory counts, discrepancies, and stock requirements. Assist with freight receiving, cross-docking, and distribution activities. Conduct heavy lifting and safely handle large, bulky, or awkward freight. Utilize basic computer systems, Excel, Outlook, and warehouse management software to track inventory and shipments. Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns. Keep warehouse, docks, storage areas, and yard spaces clean, organized, and free of hazards. Remove and dispose of packaging materials, pallets, shrink wrap, and other warehouse debris to maintain a tidy and safe work environment. Follow all company safety policies and operational procedures. Work collaboratively with drivers, warehouse staff, dispatch, and management to ensure efficient daily operations. Qualifications Previous warehouse, logistics, or distribution experience required. Valid forklift certification required. Experience loading and unloading trailers, straight trucks, and flat decks preferred. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with the ability to prioritize competing tasks. Experience receiving freight and managing inventory. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is an asset. Basic math skills and attention to detail for inventory counts and shipment verification. Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment inspections. Ability to lift and move heavy items on a regular basis. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
