Job Description:
Preload Package Handlers play a very important role at UPS. You will be responsible for loading and organizing UPS trucks and getting them ready for delivery.
In this general labour type role your responsibilities will include scanning unloading loading packages from UPS trailers and sorting packages on UPS package cars based on the delivery area. This is a fast paced physically demanding job.
Preload Shift:
Monday to Friday (5 days a week)
Shift start and finish times will vary depending on daily volume. If the volume is projected to be high then the sort/shift starts earlier.
Shift start time will range between 02:00 - 04:00 AM
Shift will finish 5 hours after your start time
Flexibility with start and finish times required. Overtime is calculated after 5 hours.
Job Responsibilities:
Loading packages onto UPS delivery trucks by hand
Following load charts to sort and organize packages based on the order of delivery
Loading 2-4 trucks at one time and ensuring the proper packages are loaded onto the right delivery trucks
Learning UPS package handling procedures and methods
Working in the UPS warehouse – hot and cold temperatures
Working in a very fast paced position which is physically demanding.

Qualifications:
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. (35kg) without assistance
Full availability to work Monday to Friday (all five days of the week)
Ability to read and memorize postal codes
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment
Comfortable working inside truck trailers and package delivery vehicles and staying longer than the usual shift hours depending on the operational needs and shipment volume
Compensation:
$18.50 per hour
Guaranteed wage progression in Union Collective Agreement - Top rate of $30.09 per hour after 90 working days plus 48 months of service
