The Ideal Candidate Our Warehouse Associate role is a hands-on position that works in all facets of warehouse operations. This position reports to the Warehouse Manager and partners closely with Customer Service, Sales, and Marketing to make sure every customer receives timely, accurate shipments. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented warehouse professional who takes pride in getting customer orders right, keeping inventory accurate, packing our quality products efficiently and attractively, and running a clean, safe operation. An ideal candidate thrives in a small company where they will cross-train across warehouse functions and take ownership of day-to-day activities at our Essex location. What You Will Do Shipping & Order Fulfillment Pick, pack, check, and ship customer orders, catalogs, samples, demo equipment, and trade show materials according to customer and company requirements Review each shipment to ensure compliance with customers' specific packing and shipping requirements Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager on orders that require unique handling or expedited shipping Support sales and marketing efforts by including materials in packages, applying special labels, and shipping samples Receiving & Inventory Control Receive, unpack, and stock pick locations when supplier shipments arrive, following FIFO storage procedures and back order fulfillment instructions Restock shelves from overstock and create and record new pick locations as needed Verify inventory through cycle counting and physical inventory, and research discrepancies to reconcile transactions Recommend pick location changes to improve order processing efficiency Safety & Facilities Maintain proper training and licensing to operate the forklift, monitor its routine maintenance, and report any safety issues Maintain and enforce safety procedures in the warehouse, including with outside vendors and truckers on company property Keep the warehouse clean and orderly, and provide general janitorial and facilities maintenance support Systems Follow SOP guidelines and adhere to supporting the Company’s Quality Management Systems Use SAP, UPS, FedEx, and other carrier websites to independently perform searches and look up information while providing feedback on continuous improvement opportunities that impact logistics What You Bring 2+ years of experience in warehouse operations Working knowledge of domestic and international shipping standards Working knowledge of Windows-based programs such as Word and Excel Hands-on experience with distribution/accounting/logistics software Clear communication skills with customers, vendors, and coworkers by phone and email Ability to safely lift a 70 lb package multiple times daily Ability to stand for an 8 hour shift while bending, lifting, twisting, picking orders, packing orders, and processing shipments on a computer Ability to pass a vision and driving test for forklift operation and safely operate a forklift Ability to climb ladders multiple times daily Ability to safely operate a keyboard, hand tools, and power tools Strong attention to detail.
