Title: Warehouse Assistant
Status: Temporary, Full Time
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reporting Relationship: Warehouse Supervisor
Program/Department: Basic Needs Department
Salary Range: $19.71 - $20.67/hour
Position Description:
A Warehouse Assistant works closely with the Warehouse Supervisor to support the day-to-day operations for the Community Food Center warehouse.
Duties for this position include assisting with managing the warehouse inventory, accepting deliveries and donations, weighing, sorting and stocking. This position exercises judgment and independent thinking, and assists with overseeing volunteer activities serving as a liaison to community stakeholders.
The anticipated hours for this position will be Monday - Friday from 9am - 5:30pm. This position will require working a rotating Wednesday evening shift from 10:30am - 7pm as scheduled.
This position is temporary in nature and is anticipated to end on December 31st, 2026, however may end at any time.
Essential Functions:
50% Warehouse Operations
- Monitor and track food inventory and donations.
- Receive deliveries and community donations.
- Organize and maintain the storage of products in warehouse.
- Communicate building and maintenance needs to Facilities Team, Warehouse Supervisor, and Director of Basic Needs.
- Maintain a safe environment for all individuals working in the warehouse.
- Greet donors, volunteers, and community partners entering the Keystone Community Food Center.
25% Data Management
- Maintain accurate records including digital and paper files from ordering and inventory tracking.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry of inventory into database systems.
20% Volunteer Supervision
- Serve as key contact for volunteers in the food operations area by supporting, assisting, and at times delegating tasks to volunteers.
- Work in partnership with the Volunteer Coordinator to assure sufficient volunteer staffing withing the program.
5% Other
- Assist with coverage of other Food Center operations as needed
- Participate in team meetings, agency all staff meetings, and other duties or projects as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
- Prior experience working in a warehouse setting.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work demands.
- Prior experience using a pallet jack and/or forklift.
- Certification to use an electric pallet jack or the ability to obtain within two weeks of hire.
- Ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds, comfortable working in a urban setting and experience working with low-income people.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc...)
- Prior Data Entry experience updating information in a database.
Qualification Preferences
- Fluency in another language (Spanish, Hmong, or Karen).
- Prior experience with inventory management and/or product ordering.
- Understanding and knowledge of community resources.
- Hold a MN DOT Medical Card and/or Food Manager Certificate.
Physical Requirements
- Able to to lift 50 pounds from floor to shoulder height and to bend and twist while lifting
- Frequent sitting, standing, carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling of carts.
- Computer desk work and telephone calls
- Climbing of ladders and stair usage
Mental Requirements
- Ability to work independently while using supervision appropriately.
- Problem solving and decision making.
- Written and oral communication skills, communication with the public.

- Ability to handle frequent interruptions, adapt to change, and handle multiple priorities.
Equipment Used
- Ability to operate a pallet jack, pallet stacker, cardboard baler, and 2-4 wheeled carts.
