Role Description The Heavy Duty Diesel Technician at the Walmart Distribution Center in Lewiston, ME is a full-time, on-site role responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel-powered tractors, trailers, and material handling equipment. Day-to-day tasks include performing scheduled preventive maintenance, conducting safety inspections, and completing corrective repairs on heavy-duty vehicles and related systems. The technician will use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, document all work performed, and ensure repairs meet company and regulatory standards. The role also involves collaborating with operations and fleet teams to minimize equipment downtime, maintaining accurate maintenance records, and following all safety policies and procedures within the distribution center environment. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Equipment Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance skills for diesel trucks, trailers, and related fleet assets. Candidates should possess Equipment Repair and Heavy Equipment experience, including work on braking systems, drivetrains, suspensions, and hydraulics. Candidates should possess solid Troubleshooting skills, including the use of diagnostic tools, service manuals, and computer-based systems to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues. Technical or vocational training in diesel technology, automotive, or heavy equipment repair is preferred. Prior experience as a diesel, fleet, or heavy equipment technician in a distribution or transportation environment is beneficial. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and follow maintenance schedules and safety procedures. Physical capability to work in a warehouse and shop environment, including standing, lifting, and working with tools and equipment. Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE, OEM training) and a valid driver’s license are a plus.
