Position Overview

The Vice President of Procurement will lead Burlington’s enterprise-wide sourcing strategy for approximately $3 billion of indirect spend, driving cost efficiency, value creation, and operational effectiveness across the business. As a key member of the leadership team, this role will build and scale a procurement function that supports Burlington’s continued growth in a fast-paced, off-price retail environment.
This leader will partner closely with Finance, Supply Chain, Store Operations, IT, Finance, Marketing and HR to deliver strategic, disciplined sourcing strategies that enable the business and drive cost savings

A Day in the Life

Lead the Procurement Strategy 

  • Create and drive a clear, enterprise-wide procurement strategy aligned to Burlington’s growth and profitability goals 
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on sourcing strategy, market trends, and risk 

Build & Elevate the Team 

  • Develop, and sustain a high-performing team, strengthen capabilities, and create a culture of accountability, and drive results 
  • Establish clear goals, KPIs, and expectations that drive performance and continuous improvement and business outcomes  

Drive Value 

  • Lead enterprise sourcing initiatives that deliver measurable savings and long-term value 
  • Own and execute complex negotiations with key suppliers to secure best-in-class pricing and terms 
  • Implement disciplined category management across indirect spend including IT, marketing, logistics, and professional services 

Supplier Partnerships 

  • Build, develop and evolve strong, productive relationships with strategic suppliers 
  • Hold suppliers accountable through measurable outcomes, scorecards, and continuous improvement 
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, consolidate, and innovate across the supplier base 

Operational Excellence 

  • Streamline procurement processes to be more efficient  
  • Leverage data and analytics to inform decisions and uncover opportunities 
  • Advance tools and systems that enable scale, visibility, and control 
  • Drive process improvements and efficiencies by effectively leveraging Coupa P2P tools and analytics

Cross functional Partnerships 

  • Partner closely with Finance to manage budgets, forecasts, and cost discipline 
  • Partner with Legal to ensure strong contract governance and risk management 

You'll Come With

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred 

Experience:

  • 12+ years of progressive procurement experience, including senior leadership roles 
  • Retail, off-price, or high-volume environment experience strongly preferred 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Proven ability to deliver meaningful cost savings and build scalable processes 
  • Expertise around implementation and utilization of P2P software, preferably Coupa 
  • Deep expertise in sourcing, negotiations, and supplier management 
  • Strong financial and business acumen 
  • Experience building and leading high-performing teams
