Position Summary Totum Market and Eatery is seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Vitamins & Supplements Sales Clerk to join our wellness team. In this role, you will be the resident expert for our health and wellness department, helping customers navigate our selection of vitamins, minerals, herbs, and sports nutrition products. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about holistic health, stays current on wellness trends, and possesses strong sales and customer service skills. Note: This role focuses on education and sales; you will not be diagnosing or prescribing. Key Responsibilities Customer Engagement & Sales: Proactively greet customers, listen to their wellness needs, and provide product recommendations to drive department sales. Product Education: Translate complex supplement information into easy-to-understand benefits for customers. Merchandising & Maintenance: Ensure the supplements aisles are fully stocked, cleanly presented, and merchandised according to Totum’s visual standards. Inventory Management: Assist with receiving orders, rotating stock, monitoring expiration dates, and conducting regular inventory checks. Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, new product launches, and general health and wellness news to maintain a high level of product knowledge. Compliance: Strictly adhere to dietary supplement regulations (such as DSHEA guidelines), ensuring that no medical advice, diagnoses, or guaranteed cure claims are made to customers. Qualifications & Skills Experience: 1–2 years of experience in retail sales, preferably in a health food store, pharmacy, or nutrition/supplement environment. Knowledge: Strong foundational understanding of vitamins, minerals, herbs, sports nutrition, and specialty diets (e.g., vegan, keto, gluten-free). Communication: Excellent interpersonal and active listening skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with a diverse customer base. Detail-Oriented: Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, especially regarding inventory rotation and expiration dates. Availability: Flexible schedule, including the ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by retail operations. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift). Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 40 lbs safely. Frequent bending, kneeling, and reaching to stock shelves and organize backroom inventory.
