Used Parts & Salvage Analyst
SMS Equipment Inc.SMS Equipment is looking for a Used Parts & Salvage Analyst to support our Remanufacturing operation in Acheson, AB. Reporting to the Parts Supervisor, Remanufacturing, this role is responsible for coordinating, analyzing, and continuously improving the Used Parts and Salvage Program. The successful candidate will identify opportunities to recover value from components and assets, improve used parts availability, and support initiatives that reduce rebuild costs and maximize the return on recoverable assets. Work Location: Acheson, AB. Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience. Work Arrangement: Fixed on site – working from the office each day. Schedule: Monday to Friday. What You’ll Do: Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Used Parts and Salvage Program, including opening and closing salvage work orders. Identify Beyond Economic Repair components suitable for disassembly and salvage. Evaluate incoming components and assets for recovery, reuse, remanufacture, or disposal. Coordinate teardown and recovery activities with operational teams to maximize the value of salvageable components. Develop and maintain procedures for component evaluation, recovery, inventory creation, and disposition. Analyze opportunities to acquire cores, used components, and surplus assets at economically viable costs. Assess recovery potential, projected yields, and financial returns before recommending acquisitions. Monitor recovery rates and evaluate program performance against recovered inventory value and rebuild savings. Ensure recovered used parts are accurately identified and entered into inventory. Monitor inventory levels, aging, turns, utilization, and value to support rebuild demand and customer requirements. Identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory and recommend appropriate disposition strategies. Support inventory counts, audits, and reconciliation activities. Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and performance metrics for the Used Parts and Salvage Program. Prepare performance summaries and recommendations for leadership and support annual planning and forecasting. Identify and implement opportunities to improve salvage recovery, inventory accuracy, reporting tools, and operational efficiency. Develop standardized processes that support continuous improvement and maximize value recovery. What You Bring: The successful candidate will bring 3–5 years of experience in parts or administrative operations, inventory control, reporting, business analysis, or a related operational support function . Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and the ability to interpret data and develop practical recommendations are essential. Post-secondary education in Business Administration or a related field is considered an asset but is not required. Other requirements include: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, reporting, and spreadsheet management. Knowledge of parts operations, inventory control processes, and inventory management principles. Experience with eXtend and Microsoft Office applications. Strong administrative, organizational, and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in data entry, reporting, and analysis. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, continuous-improvement mindset. Effective verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
