Position Summary As a General Transportation Manager, you will lead the strategic and day-to-day operations of a transportation network that supports the movement of freight safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, developing high-performing teams, and ensuring seamless collaboration across supply chain, transportation, and business partners to deliver exceptional service to our stores, clubs, customers, and communities. What You'll Do Lead Transportation Operations Direct and oversee transportation operations for a distribution or transportation facility, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient execution of business objectives. Establish operational priorities, communicate clear expectations, and monitor performance against key business metrics. Balance service, cost, capacity, and productivity goals while maintaining a focus on customer and business needs. Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, Fleet, Transportation Command Center, and other stakeholders to deliver results. Drive Business Performance Manage facility budgets and financial performance by monitoring expenses, asset utilization, and operational costs. Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks. Develop and execute business plans that improve service levels, productivity, and overall transportation efficiency. Remove barriers to execution and implement solutions that drive sustainable results. Lead Through Emergencies and Business Disruptions Partner with the Transportation Command Center and Emergency Operations teams to support business continuity efforts. Coordinate alternate transportation solutions and routing strategies during weather events, emergencies, or network disruptions. Ensure the continuous movement of freight into and throughout affected markets while maximizing available resources. Build and Develop High-Performing Teams Recruit, develop, coach, and retain top talent across transportation operations. Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, inclusion, and professional growth. Provide clear performance expectations, ongoing feedback, and development opportunities for associates and leaders. Recognize achievements and create pathways for career advancement. Resolve Complex Issues Address escalated associate, driver, customer, and supplier concerns with urgency and professionalism. Collaborate with business partners to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. Ensure issues are resolved in a manner that supports operational excellence and positive stakeholder experiences. Champion Continuous Improvement Identify and implement process improvements that enhance network efficiency, service, safety, and cost performance. Evaluate and support new technologies, systems, and transportation solutions. Lead change management efforts and drive adoption of innovative practices across the operation. Utilize data and analytics to improve decision-making and operational outcomes. What You'll Bring Experience leading transportation, logistics, supply chain, fleet, or distribution operations.
