Umlaut Transloading – Transload Operator 1 Job Summary: This position will perform daily operations of the Umlaut business unit. The person occupying this position will ensure the safe and efficient use of the rail yard by Umlaut’s team members, clients, visitors and BNSF operating personnel. This person will coordinate activities necessary to operate the yard, ensuring appropriate railcar placement for optimal use of the facility. This person will unload and load railcars for customers on a variety of commodities and methods. This person is also responsible for scheduling and coordinating railcars and trucks for a diverse range of clients, as well as maintaining accurate and timely documentation, including bills of lading, shipping documents, railcar records, and inventory control documents. Umlaut Transloading – Transload Operator 1 Duties/Responsibilities: Ability to Operate a Transload System, Railroad Websites, and other technology as needed Daily unloading of materials consisting of a variety Operate rail car loading systems and equipment Operate rail car mover Track Movements in the Rail Yard (inbound and outbound for car switching, ordering, and releasing) Cross-trained on all functions at the facility Enforces safety policies and procedures with other employees, customers and visitors Maintain Relationship with Local BNSF Switching Crew Ability to perform general maintenance on equipment Coordinate maintenance on all rail yard related equipment to keep it in good repair and working order Assign and enter railcar numbers with incoming product including documentation on location on track Organize and schedule appointments for trucks to load railcars, railcars to load trucks and truck to truck with customers Assist with other duties within the facility (general maintenance, landscape upkeep, cleaning equipment, etc.) Umlaut Transloading – Transload Operator 1 Skills/Abilities: Comfortable working with computer technology Ability to learn and become proficient with various operations software Good personal communication skills, detail oriented, and self-motivated Ability to operate independently and exhibit good judgement Comfortable working with a diverse range of individuals Umlaut Transloading – Transload Operator 1 Education and Experience: Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent Required: Valid Driver’s License Required: Company Approved Driver Required: Railroad training (may be obtained after hire) Required: Capable to learn how to operate and maintain rail car/trans loading equipment (e.g., Hoses, portable conveyors, transfer pumps, portable stair systems, small to medium-sized equipment, etc.) Required: Computer skills (light data entry) Preferred: Experience with rail service operations Preferred: Warehouse Experience or Transload Experience Preferred: Computer skills (light data entry) Umlaut Transloading – Transload Operator 1 Physical and/or Travel Requirements: Must be able to periodically push and pull up to 50 pounds at a time Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at a time Must be able to bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time Must be able to work in varied outdoor climates Umlaut Transloading – Transload Operator 1 Benefits: Paid time off and Holidays Simplified Employee Pension Plan Health Insurance Group Life Insurance Tuition Reimbursement Gallup Leadership Development training Erlen Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
