Trucking Dispatcher & Load Planner

Company: Silver Dollar Transport LLC Location: McBain, MI 49657 Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm EST Job Description We are seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Trucking Dispatcher & Load Planner to join our team. This individual will be responsible for coordinating daily trucking operations, booking and accepting loads, planning shipments, scheduling pickup and delivery appointments, and assigning drivers and trailers to loads efficiently. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can multitask, solve problems quickly, and keep freight moving safely and on schedule in a fast-paced trucking environment. Key Responsibilities Load Booking & Acceptance: Find, negotiate, accept, and book available freight loads while ensuring loads meet company requirements and profitability goals. Load Planning: Plan and organize loads efficiently based on driver availability, equipment, locations, delivery deadlines, and routing. Driver Assignments: Assign loads to drivers based on availability, hours of service, qualifications, location, and schedule. Trailer Assignments: Assign the appropriate trailers to loads and coordinate trailer availability, positioning, and utilization. Appointment Scheduling: Schedule and confirm pickup and delivery appointments with shippers, receivers, brokers, and customers. Dispatch Operations: Communicate load details, pickup and delivery instructions, appointment times, and updates to drivers. Load Tracking: Monitor shipments from pickup through delivery and proactively address delays, missed appointments, or other issues. Documentation: Maintain accurate load information, dispatch records, appointment confirmations, and other required paperwork. Communication: Maintain professional relationships with drivers, brokers, customers, and other members of the operations team. Problem Solving: Quickly resolve scheduling conflicts, equipment issues, and changes to load plans. Operational Efficiency: Help maximize driver productivity, trailer utilization, on-time performance, and overall fleet efficiency. Qualifications Previous experience in trucking dispatch, freight brokerage, transportation coordination, or load planning is preferred. Knowledge of the trucking industry, freight loads, trailers, and dispatch operations. Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage changing priorities. Comfortable using computers, email, spreadsheets, load boards, and transportation management systems. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently. Experience with load boards, broker portals, and transportation software is an asset.
