Truck Yard Switcher

Job Overview As a Truck Yard Switcher, you’ll keep trailers and containers moving safely and efficiently across the yard. You’ll use a yard tractor and commercial truck driving skills to position trailers at docks, stage equipment, and support timely loading and unloading. Your work may involve refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers. Your impact: Accurate trailer moves help dock teams load and unload freight smoothly and keep deliveries on track. Responsibilities Move and containers and trailers between yard locations and loading docks; connect and disconnect trailers safely. Perform yard checks, confirm trailer and load details, and communicate equipment needs or safety concerns. Support logistics cargo handling, including truck loading and unloading and manual handling when required. Requirements Commercial driving or truck driving experience, including tractor-trailer operation; delivery driver experience and route driving are useful. Ability to drive a manual transmission and perform safe driving, delivery driving, and yard maneuvers. Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. Understanding of hazardous materials regulations and dangerous goods handling; Hazmat experience is preferred. Experience with freight, automobile transportation, tanker, or flatbed operations is preferred; ability to load and unload and handle cargo manually is required. Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week Work Location: In person
