Truck & Trailer Mechanic
Wheel King Trans Haul Inc.Position Summary: The Truck & Trailer Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on company-owned tractors and trailers. The successful candidate must be a certified diesel mechanic with extensive experience working on heavy-duty diesel engines, electrical systems, braking systems, suspensions, transmissions, and trailer components. Key Responsibilities:Preventive Maintenance & Repairs Perform scheduled preventive maintenance services on trucks and trailers. Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, cooling systems, and drivetrains. Conduct inspections and repairs on trailers, including brakes, suspension systems, landing gear, doors, lighting systems, and air systems. Complete DOT and safety inspections to ensure equipment compliance. Diagnostics & Troubleshooting Utilize diagnostic software and tools to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults. Troubleshoot engine performance issues, ABS systems, emissions systems, electrical circuits, and HVAC components. Accurately determine root causes of equipment failures and perform necessary repairs. Specialized Equipment Maintenance Maintain and repair Freightliner, Volvo, and Scania trucks. Perform engine diagnostics and repairs on diesel-powered equipment. Service air brake systems, steering components, suspension systems, and hydraulic systems. Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and safety requirements. Safety & Compliance Follow company safety procedures and OSHA regulations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Ensure all maintenance records and repair documentation are accurate and complete. Identify potential safety concerns and recommend corrective actions. Parts & Inventory Management Assist in identifying and ordering required parts and components. Maintain proper inventory control of shop supplies and repair materials. Coordinate with vendors and parts suppliers as needed. Roadside Assistance & Emergency Repairs Respond to emergency breakdowns when required. Perform roadside diagnostics and repairs to minimize equipment downtime. Support fleet availability through timely completion of maintenance tasks. Qualifications:Required: Certified Diesel Mechanic certification. Minimum 3 years of experience repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers. Proven experience working with Freightliner, Volvo, and Scania trucks. Strong understanding of diesel engines, electronic control systems, air brakes, suspensions, and trailer maintenance. Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, schematics, and technical documents. Experience using diagnostic software and scan tools. Valid driver's license. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks. Preferred: ASE Certification or equivalent mechanic certifications. CDL License (preferred but not required). Experience in transportation or fleet maintenance environments. Welding and fabrication experience is considered an asset. Knowledge of DOT inspections and compliance requirements.
