Truck/Route Driver

Job Summary The Mountain Democrat is looking for a delivery driver to work 6pm-2am, 2-days a week. This position also has a flexible magazine distribution route, days and times flexible. Vehicle provided. Clean driving record a must. Duties Safely operate a standard box truck (automatic, medium size with lift-gate) that will travel to Fairfield from Placerville 2-nights a week. Drive assigned routes efficiently, adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols to ensure punctual waste collection Load and unload newspapers etc. Conduct routine vehicle inspections. Maintain accurate logs of daily routes, pickups, drop-offs, and vehicle maintenance activities. Follow all safety procedures related to heavy lifting, outdoor work conditions, hazardous materials regulations, and traffic laws to protect yourself and others Skills Solid understanding of traffic laws, and state transportation rules governing commercial driving Mechanical knowledge for basic troubleshooting and vehicle maintenance checks a plus Strong defensive driving skills with a focus on safety protocol adherence in busy urban or rural environments Excellent customer service skills to interact professionally with residents and clients during pickups Ability to perform heavy lifting safely manually or with equipment Pay: $16.90 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 16.0 – 30.0 per week Benefits: Paid training Work Location: In person
