Truck Mechanic - 3rd Shift

Local Chicago trucking company is looking for a 3rd shift diesel mechanic. The candidate MUST have a verifiable working knowledge of Mack CH and CX Models. Computer skills are required as our repair work orders and PMs are maintained though a PC computer. Also, the candidate must possess their own basic tools to perform standard Truck PM's and repairs. We are looking for a self-motivated mechanic to be part of our team and are available to work Monday-Friday nights 6pm - 3am and possibly weekends when needed. Will perform PM's and DOT inspections as well as a large range of truck repairs. Position Qualifications Include: General truck/chassis repair knowledge and PM experience Tire replacement knowledge and capabilities preferred Knowledge of compliance with DOT regulations High initiative and quick in learning Ability to keep good records of repairs and maintenance Core Competencies 1. Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills 6. Professional appearance and strong work ethic 7. Proficient computer skills preferred 8. Valid and current Driver's License with ability to maintain a good driving record. 9. Able to work with others. 10. Transportation is a must. This position works in a trucking repair shop setting, with outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses diesel mechanical tools such as power tools, wrenches, Jacks, etc. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Requires standing for a prolonged period. Requires occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Requires maximum reaching for items above and below shelves. Requires strength, coordination and vision to use when handling tools and equipment/parts. This position requires the technician to work in a very loud environment. Assisting mechanics and drivers with issues with truck and chassis. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 50 hours per week. Hours and start/end times subject to change as business needs require. Must be able to work at least 1 Saturday per month. Required Education and Experience High school diploma or GED, or one to two years related experience, and/or training, or equivalent combination or education and experience required. Previous repair shop experience preferred.
