Truckload Operations Specialist EMPIRE Freight Logistics | Syracuse, NY Job Type: Full-Time About EMPIRE Freight Logistics EMPIRE Freight Logistics, a KODIS company, is a growing third-party logistics provider specializing in truckload, less-than-truckload (LTL), and customized transportation solutions throughout North America. We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Truckload Operations Specialist to join our Syracuse operations team. This position is responsible for managing the full truckload transportation process, from quoting and carrier procurement through shipment execution and delivery. Key Responsibilities Freight Quoting: Respond to truckload pricing requests from our internal customer service team, research market rates, and provide timely, competitive quotes. Carrier Procurement: Source, negotiate, and secure qualified motor carriers to move shipments throughout the United States and Canada. Shipment Execution: Coordinate pickups, deliveries, appointments, and shipment requirements to ensure freight moves efficiently and on schedule. Carrier Relationships: Develop and maintain relationships with dependable transportation providers while balancing cost, capacity, and service. Problem Solving: Proactively address transportation challenges, including capacity issues, delays, scheduling conflicts, and service exceptions. Shipment Visibility: Monitor active shipments, maintain accurate information in our transportation management system (TMS), and communicate updates to internal teams. Cost Management: Negotiate competitive carrier rates while maintaining established profitability and service expectations. Team Collaboration: Work closely with customer service and other operations personnel to deliver a consistent, high level of customer service. Qualifications Preferred Experience: 1–3 years of experience in truckload brokerage, carrier procurement, freight dispatch, or transportation operations. Familiarity with the domestic truckload transportation market, carrier networks, and freight pricing. Experience working with transportation management systems (TMS), load boards, or freight procurement platforms. Required Skills: General understanding of transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations. Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software quickly. Good communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple shipments and priorities. Comfortable negotiating rates and communicating with motor carriers. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment. Previous truckload brokerage experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates strong computer skills, initiative, and an interest in the transportation industry.
