Truck Driver – Temporary-to-Permanent

Position Title Temporary-to-Permanent CDL Driver / Trailer Transport Driver Location Lawrence Township, NJ Position Type Truck Driver – Temporary-to-Permanent Compensation $28.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications) Schedule Monday through Friday Approximately 40-45 hours per week Occasional Saturday / Sunday coverage, as needed Position Summary Talay Trailer Sales & Rentals, Inc. is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious, and experienced CDL Driver / Trailer Transport Driver to support our trailer leasing and rental operations. This position will initially be offered on a temporary basis , with the opportunity to transition to permanent employment based on performance, reliability, attendance, safety, and ongoing business needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of trailers between customer locations, Talay facilities, repair facilities, and other designated locations throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and surrounding areas . The ideal candidate is a professional and responsible driver who takes pride in safely handling company equipment, provides excellent customer service, communicates effectively with the Operations team, and is comfortable working independently. Key Responsibilities Pick up and deliver trailers to customer locations, Talay facilities, repair facilities, and other designated locations throughout NJ, NY, PA, and surrounding areas. Safely transport and position semi-trailers in accordance with company procedures and applicable DOT regulations. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractors and trailers and report any issues promptly. Safely couple and uncouple trailers and verify that all connections and equipment are secure before transportation. Verify trailer unit numbers and ensure the correct equipment is being picked up, delivered, or exchanged. Maintain accurate pickup, delivery, and transportation documentation. Communicate effectively with the Operations team regarding schedules, completed assignments, delays, and changes in trailer location. Report any equipment damage, mechanical concerns, accidents, safety issues, or other incidents immediately. Provide professional, courteous, and customer-focused service when interacting with customers, vendors, and business partners. Safely maneuver trailers in customer yards, company facilities, repair facilities, and other restricted or challenging locations. Assist with trailer swaps, repositioning, and other transportation-related activities as needed. Assist with occasional yard organization and trailer positioning. Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment. Perform other transportation and operational duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) appropriate for the equipment being operated. Clean and safe driving record. Previous experience operating commercial trucks and/or pulling semi-trailers. Demonstrated knowledge of safe trailer coupling and uncoupling procedures. Ability to perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Ability to safely maneuver and position semi-trailers in customer yards, company facilities, and repair locations. Strong commitment to safety and compliance with applicable DOT regulations. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently while following established procedures and instructions. Professional demeanor and ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors, and coworkers. Ability to safely handle company equipment and demonstrate good judgment while operating in customer and company facilities. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in the trucking, transportation, trailer rental, trailer leasing, or fleet industry . Experience transporting dry van or other types of semi-trailers.
