Truck Driver Heavy Haul (Wind Division) Owner Operator

Overview J Overview Totran Transportation Services is seeking Class A CDL owner-operators to haul wind turbine components and heavy equipment on over-the-road routes in the U.S. and Canada. You must provide and operate your own DOT-compliant tractor with a current annual inspection. Responsibilities Use your own tractor to pull flatbed, step-deck, RGN, lowboy, or specialized wind transport trailers as assigned. Coordinate with loading and unloading crews, verify cargo placement, and secure loads using straps, chains, binders, and tarps as appropriate. Follow permitted routes and travel restrictions for oversize and overweight loads. Coordinate with pilot cars and escorts as required. Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintain your tractor in safe operating condition, and correct safety defects before operating. Follow applicable DOT and FMCSA requirements, including hours of service and cargo securement. Keep dispatch informed of delivery progress, delays, equipment issues, and route concerns. Required Qualifications Valid Class A CDL with a Doubles/Triples (T) endorsement. At least 8 years of verifiable commercial driving experience , including at least 8 years hauling with flatbed, step-deck, RGN, lowboy, or other specialized trailers . Hands-on experience tarping, strapping, and securing flatbed freight, including proficiency with chains and binders. Knowledge of DOT cargo securement requirements. Ability to meet applicable DOT driver qualification requirements and maintain an acceptable driving record. Eligibility to enter Canada for commercial deliveries and valid travel documents for those trips. Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Current Wind Industry Transportation Professional Advanced Certification (WITPAC). Willingness to complete specialized wind turbine blade transportation training. Preferred Qualifications Experience hauling wind turbine blades, towers, hubs, or blade tips. Experience hauling permitted oversize or overweight loads, especially loads exceeding 200 feet in length . Experience operating stretch or steerable trailers and coordinating with pilot cars and escorts. Valid passport. Experiance Describe your heavy-haul experience, including the wind turbine components you’ve hauled, the longest load you’ve transported, and the trailer and axle configurations you’ve operated.
