Truck Driver/Furniture Mover

Position Summary The Truck Driver / Furniture Mover is responsible for safely operating a box truck or similar vehicle to pick up donated furniture and household items from generous donors Suffolk County. This role is integral to the mission of St. Vincent de Paul, serving those in need through the resale of quality donated goods. Our drivers are scheduled Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Operate a company truck in full compliance with New York State and local traffic laws Load and unload furniture and large household items using proper lifting techniques and moving equipment (dollies, furniture straps, moving blankets) Inspect donated items for quality and condition at point of pickup; communicate acceptance guidelines respectfully and courteously to donors Follow all safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques Maintain accurate pickup manifests and donor receipt records Qualifications Required: Valid New York State driver's license with a clean driving record (MVR check required) Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs regularly; maneuver large/bulky furniture with a team Strong interpersonal and communication skills for donor-facing interactions Ability to work in varying weather and physical conditions Preferred: 1+ year of experience in moving, delivery, furniture handling, or logistics Familiarity with Suffolk County area Physical Requirements Frequent lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and carrying of heavy/bulky items Prolonged standing, walking, and climbing in and out of vehicles throughout the shift Ability to navigate stairs, narrow spaces, and varying terrain at donor locations Compensation & Benefits Hourly rate starting at $20.00/hour Eligible for comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, disability About St. Vincent de Paul The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving those in need with respect, compassion, and love.
