This role offers an exciting opportunity to operate a range of commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers, while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. As a key player in our logistics network, you’ll ensure timely deliveries, maintain compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, and uphold the highest standards of vehicle operation and cargo handling. Your expertise will help keep our supply chain moving smoothly and reliably. Responsibilities Safely operate commercial trucks including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers across over-the-road (OTR) routes. Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or forklift equipment as required, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transit. Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel consumption. Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods in compliance with Hazardous Materials Regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Drive in accordance with FMCSA regulations, DOT standards, and company policies to ensure safety at all times. Load and unload freight accurately, verifying cargo against shipping documents and maintaining proper documentation for each shipment. Maintain vehicle safety by conducting pre-trip inspections, routine maintenance checks, and reporting any mechanical issues promptly. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status, route changes, or unforeseen delays. Ensure all cargo handling complies with logistics cargo handling standards to prevent damage or loss. Experience Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving within a logistics environment. Demonstrated ability to operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission safely and efficiently. Experience transporting refrigerated freight or hazardous materials preferred but not required; relevant certifications such as Hazmat endorsement are advantageous. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning for over-the-road (OTR) driving routes. Knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures, freight handling techniques, and truck loading equipment operation such as forklifts or manual tools. Understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance standards, and hazardous materials regulations essential for safe transportation practices.
