Responsibilities Safely operate commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers and specialized vehicles such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, or tankers, on over-the-road (OTR) routes. Navigate using GPS systems to ensure efficient routing and timely deliveries across multiple locations. Load and unload freight with proper manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo integrity and compliance with logistics cargo handling standards. Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) or dangerous goods following all hazardous materials regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) guidelines. Adhere strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT regulations, and hazardous materials regulations to maintain safety standards. Conduct vehicle inspections before and after trips to verify truck condition, including checking for safety issues or load security concerns. Manage delivery documentation accurately, including logs of load & unload activities, route records, and compliance paperwork. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams to coordinate routes, report issues, or delays promptly. Requirements Proven experience in commercial truck driving or delivery driving with a focus on route driving or freight transportation. Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle type being operated; manual transmission experience is preferred. Knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, including freight handling for various cargo types such as hazardous materials or temperature-sensitive goods. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning tools for efficient OTR driving routes. Understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), and hazardous materials regulations to ensure compliance at all times. Ability to handle manual handling tasks safely while loading/unloading cargo or securing loads on flatbeds or tankers. Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; experience with tractor-trailers preferred. Strong organizational skills to manage delivery schedules and documentation accurately.
