Truck Driver Class A CDL (Local Deliveries)

General Job Summary: Operates truck or similar vehicle to pick up and deliver parts, materials, and finished products; drives mainly in local or metropolitan area. Essential Job Functions: 1. Operates truck to pick up and deliver parts, materials, and finished products. 2. Scales parts and anneal-grommets. 3. Provides daily maintenance of hi-lo and trucks. 4. Maintains area safety by keeping it clean. 5. Follows all safety, housekeeping and company policies and procedures. 6. Promotes guest relations; anticipates and responds to needs of others; provides assistance in a courteous, quick manner; treats others with care and respect, maintaining privacy and confidentiality. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Assists in shipping area. 2. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 1. Communication skills necessary to provide information in a comprehensible fashion (oral and written); read and comprehend instructions. 2. Good interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain a productive working relationship with staff members and clients. 3. Ability to add, subtract and multiply numbers. 4. Ability to drive a vehicle. Working Conditions: 1. Work is divided between shop environment and business community, requiring driving in community. Shop environment; loud noise from shop machines and/or generated by shop staff members. There is some exposure to dust when cleaning. 2. Frequently lifting and carrying shipments weighing up to approximately fifty pounds. Occasionally lifting and or moving fifty to eighty pounds. 3. Frequently standing, reaching with hands and arms, sitting while driving; and occasionally walking, stooping and kneeling. Minimum Level of Preparation and Training: On the job training and valid commercial drivers license (CDL). If the vehicle’s gross weight is more than 10,000 pounds, employee must have a DOT.
