The Role: Truck Driver (Class 5) We provide the tools, technology, and support; you bring the skill and dedication. In this role, you will play a key part as the primary driver of production flow across our landscape construction, maintenance, and winter operations, ensuring smaller-scale deliveries and hotshot runs are executed smoothly and efficiently. Your Daily Impact: Transportation & Logistics: Operate company fleet vehicles (Class 5 trucks, flatbeds, utility vehicles) to transport materials, plant stock, tools, and light supplies between yards, suppliers, and job sites, optimizing routes to meet tight project timelines. Loading & Material Handling: Safely load, secure (using straps, chains, or tarping), and unload materials while verifying load accuracy against dispatch orders and assisting with manual handling. Equipment & Vehicle Care: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure compliance with Alberta traffic laws, maintaining vehicle cleanliness and promptly reporting mechanical needs. Field & Crew Support: Provide active, hands-on field support between deliveries or during downtime (e.g., grading, shoveling, material placement, site cleanup) to ensure crew productivity and workflow continuity. Safety & Compliance: Comply with provincial driving laws and Alberta Transportation standards for commercial use, adhering strictly to safety procedures and hazard assessments. Documentation & Communication: Maintain accurate delivery logs, inspection records, and time tracking, keeping dispatch and field supervisors informed on delivery schedules or delays. Seasonal Transition (Winter Services): Transition from November through April to support snow and ice management commitments with a flexible, weather-dependent schedule for winter snow events. Essentials for Success (Qualifications & Skills) To thrive in this role, you will need a solid technical foundation and a strong work ethic: Knowledge: Working knowledge of Alberta traffic laws, basic load securement, and safe towing practices; understanding of light/medium commercial vehicle compliance. Skills: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (non-GDL preferred) with a clean abstract ( Class 3 License is a strong asset ); ability to tow light utility trailers; proficiency using GPS navigation and mobile dispatch apps; basic mechanical aptitude. Abilities: 2+ years of professional or commercial driving experience (Class 5, hotshot, or delivery roles); physical stamina for heavy lifting (50+ lbs) and outdoor labor across changing Alberta weather conditions.
