Truck dispatcher

Job Overview As a Truck Dispatcher, you’ll coordinate road transportation operations and keep freight moving safely and efficiently. You’ll connect drivers, customers, and internal teams, using dispatch tools and clear communication to support timely shipping and receiving. Your impact: Accurate dispatching and proactive updates help drivers stay informed and customers receive dependable service. Responsibilities Assign vehicles and routes based on shipment needs, availability, and transportation plans. Track vehicles with Global Positioning System (GPS) tools; update dispatch records through transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software. Manage phone calls on multi-line phone systems, using professional phone etiquette and strong phone communication. Coordinate with drivers, customers, and internal teams; deliver responsive customer service and clear internal communication. Complete data entry and typing tasks, review shipment details, and apply analysis skills to resolve scheduling issues. Experience Experience in dispatching, transportation management, logistics, freight, fleet management, or supply chain operations is helpful. Familiarity with road transportation operations, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and third-party logistics (3PL) is preferred. Microsoft Office skills and organizational and communication skills are important; experience with Oracle Transportation Management, SyteLine, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a plus. Knowledge of transportation planning and shipping and receiving processes is beneficial.
