Truck Dispatcher

Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Truck Dispatcher to coordinate and manage the daily operations of freight transportation. In this vital role, you will oversee the scheduling, routing, and dispatching of trucks to ensure timely deliveries while maintaining compliance with transportation regulations. Responsibilities Coordinate and assign freight shipments to drivers using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management. Monitor real-time GPS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure on-time deliveries. Communicate effectively with drivers via multi-line phone systems and internal communication channels to relay instructions, updates, and address issues promptly. Manage phone call traffic efficiently, handling inquiries from drivers, customers, and internal teams with professionalism and clarity. Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations by maintaining accurate records, conducting data entry, and overseeing shipping & receiving documentation. Support supply chain operations by analyzing transportation data, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions for improved road transportation operations. Maintain organized records of dispatch activities, freight details, vehicle maintenance schedules, and driver logs to facilitate smooth logistics workflows. Qualifications Proven experience in dispatching within road transportation or logistics environments. Strong knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems), GPS tracking, and vehicle routing principles. Familiarity with transportation planning tools such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar systems. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Exceptional communication skills—both verbal and written—and phone etiquette for effective internal and external interactions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for data entry, reporting, and analysis purposes. Understanding of fleet management practices, shipping & receiving procedures, and freight handling standards.
