Truck Delivery Driver

Job Summary J & J Transportation is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious, and hardworking Truck Delivery Driver to support daily transportation and delivery operations. The ideal candidate is responsible for transporting goods safely, completing deliveries on schedule, and maintaining professional communication with customers, dispatchers, and team members. In this role, you will operate an assigned delivery truck, follow designated routes, inspect vehicles, handle delivery documentation, and ensure that cargo is transported securely. A strong commitment to safe driving, punctuality, and dependable customer service is essential. Key Responsibilities Operate company-assigned trucks to transport and deliver goods to designated locations. Follow assigned routes, delivery schedules, and dispatch instructions. Load, unload, and secure cargo according to company procedures and safety requirements. Inspect vehicles before and after trips to identify maintenance or safety concerns. Complete delivery paperwork, invoices, logs, and proof-of-delivery records accurately. Confirm delivery details and obtain required customer signatures when applicable. Communicate with dispatchers regarding route changes, delays, traffic, and delivery issues. Follow traffic laws, transportation regulations, and applicable driving and rest-hour requirements. Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the assigned vehicle. Report accidents, vehicle damage, mechanical problems, and safety concerns promptly. Handle customer questions and delivery concerns in a courteous and professional manner. Verify cargo quantities and delivery information before leaving pickup locations. Use safe lifting and material-handling practices when moving delivery items. Protect company property, cargo, and equipment during transportation. Complete assigned deliveries accurately and within scheduled timeframes. Requirements and Qualifications Valid driver's license appropriate for the assigned vehicle. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required when applicable to the truck being operated. Previous truck driving or delivery experience is preferred. Knowledge of road safety, traffic regulations, and basic vehicle inspection procedures. Ability to follow directions, delivery schedules, and route information. Good communication and customer service skills. Dependable, punctual, and responsible work habits. Ability to complete delivery paperwork and maintain accurate records. Ability to load, unload, lift, or carry cargo within safe physical limits. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe cargo handling. Ability to work independently and coordinate with dispatch and transportation teams. Flexible availability for scheduled shifts and occasional schedule changes. Work Environment This position involves operating delivery trucks in various road and weather conditions. Daily responsibilities may include driving, loading and unloading cargo, completing vehicle inspections, communicating with dispatch, and interacting with customers.
