Transportation Supervisor

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Transportation Supervisor to lead our transportation and logistics operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of transportation activities to ensure efficient delivery, distribution, and supply chain management. Your leadership will drive process improvements, optimize freight movement, and uphold safety standards across all transportation functions. Responsibilities Supervise daily transportation activities, including freight movement, shipping & receiving, and distribution operations. Develop and implement transportation plans that align with demand planning and production scheduling to meet delivery deadlines. Manage transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS) to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Oversee inventory control, warehouse distribution, procurement, and materials management to ensure accurate order fulfillment. Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing lean methodologies and process management techniques to enhance supply chain performance. Monitor profit & loss statements, budgeting processes, and cost control measures related to transportation activities. Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PL), NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier), and other partners to optimize freight solutions. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards across all transportation functions. Manage team supervision, including training, performance evaluations, and fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability. Utilize supply chain analytics for data-driven decision-making aimed at enhancing logistics management and operational efficiency. Experience Proven experience in warehouse supervision or distribution operations with a strong background in transportation management. Demonstrated success in supervising teams within logistics or supply chain environments. Extensive knowledge of transportation planning, demand planning, freight management, and inventory control. Hands-on experience with ERP systems, transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and Microsoft Office tools. Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as lean principles and continuous improvement strategies. Strong managerial communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively in fast-paced environments. Experience working with third-party logistics providers (3PL), NVOCCs, or similar entities is highly desirable.
