Transportation Supervisor

Transportation Supervisor StaffBuffalo is working with an established organization to hire an experienced Transportation Supervisor , offering a base salary of $100,000-$110,000 , depending on experience. This full-time leadership role oversees daily transportation, dispatch, driver management, and fleet operations while ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong transportation and dispatch experience who can manage multiple drivers, routes, schedules, and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. This individual will be responsible for maintaining smooth daily operations, addressing unexpected challenges, and identifying opportunities to improve processes and team performance. This position includes an alternating one-week-on, one-week-off after-hours on-call schedule, with occasional urgent operational needs. Responsibilities Oversee daily transportation and dispatch operations, including driver scheduling, assignments, supervision, and performance management. Plan and coordinate routes for company-operated vehicles and third-party carriers. Monitor deliveries, driver activity, and schedules using GPS, fleet management, and dispatch systems. Resolve scheduling conflicts, transportation delays, equipment issues, and other operational challenges. Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and transportation requirements. Coordinate fleet maintenance, inspections, repairs, and outside service providers. Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, vendors, and internal teams. Identify process improvements to increase operational efficiency, reliability, and accountability. Maintain accurate operational records and participate in the rotating after-hours on-call schedule. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in logistics, business, or a related field preferred. 2-5+ years of experience in transportation, dispatch, trucking, logistics, or related operations. Previous supervisory or management experience required, preferably overseeing drivers or dispatch teams. Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation safety requirements. Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with GPS tracking, fleet management, or dispatch software. Experience coordinating third-party carriers and fleet maintenance preferred. Ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to time-sensitive operational challenges.
