About the Role: As the Transportation Supervisor, you will provide hands-on leadership for Grocery Outlet's daily outbound transportation and field delivery operations. You will direct and coach drivers, monitor route execution, conduct field observations and ride-alongs, resolve delivery and equipment issues, and reinforce company safety, service, and performance expectations. You will partner with routing, dispatch, warehouse operations, stores, carriers, Fleet/Maintenance, and Transportation leadership to ensure reliable, efficient, and cost-effective deliveries. The Transportation Supervisor will report to the Transportation Manager. Responsibilities Include: Provide day-to-day direction and hands-on field supervision to drivers while promoting a safe work environment and excellent customer service upstream and downstream. Coordinate routing, dispatching, scheduling, and load tracking with common carriers and Grocery Outlet's fleet. Maintain active visibility of driver and route activity; monitor route execution, completion, delays, staffing, equipment availability, and delivery exceptions. Conduct field observations, store-delivery observations, and ride-alongs to evaluate safe work practices, productivity, delivery procedures, and service standards. Coach drivers on safe driving, vehicle inspections, loading and unloading, route execution, store interactions, and performance expectations; document coaching and follow-up as appropriate. Respond to route disruptions and service failures, coordinate recovery plans, and communicate timely updates regarding ETAs, driver issues, equipment issues, and operational changes. Support driver onboarding, training, safety meetings, and communication of company policies, procedures, and operational priorities. Monitor compliance with GOI policies and DOT/FMCSA requirements, including hours-of-service, ELD, vehicle inspections, and safe delivery practices. Investigate and document transportation incidents, accidents, injuries, delivery damage, and service complaints; coordinate appropriate follow-up and corrective action. Work as a liaison among IOs (Independent Owner Operators), stores, drivers, carriers, routing, and warehouse operations teams. Manage and schedule cross-dock shuttles, backhaul appointments, and Final Mile delivery arrangements. Assist stores with order management, on-time order placement, delivery schedules, and order exceptions. Retrieve and review operational data to monitor driver, route, carrier, and service performance; meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators. Identify opportunities to improve driver productivity, reduce unnecessary overtime and empty miles, improve equipment utilization, and control transportation costs. Maintain DOT driver profile records and coordinate fleet preventive maintenance needs. May occasionally lift, carry, push or pull materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Conduct periodic store follow-up and use knowledge of store operations and GOI to recommend service enhancements, cost-neutral improvements, and cost reductions. Performs other related duties as assigned to support department and business needs.
