Transportation Supervisor

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Transportation Supervisor to lead our transportation operations with energy and precision. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of our distribution and logistics processes. Your leadership will ensure efficient freight movement, optimal inventory control, and seamless coordination across supply chain functions. Duties Supervise daily transportation activities, including freight scheduling, shipping & receiving, and distribution operations to ensure timely delivery . Develop and implement transportation management systems (TMS) strategies to optimize routing, reduce costs, and improve service levels. Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to coordinate inventory management, order fulfillment, and warehouse distribution efforts. Lead process improvement initiatives utilizing Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies to streamline operations and eliminate waste. Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PL), NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier), and other external partners to ensure supply chain efficiency. Oversee budgeting, demand planning, procurement, and supply chain analytics to support operational excellence. Monitor transportation performance metrics, analyze data using ERP systems and supply chain management tools, and implement corrective actions as needed. Supervise team members by providing managerial communication, training, and performance feedback to foster a high-performing work environment. Ensure compliance with safety standards, transportation regulations, and company policies across all distribution activities. Requirements Proven experience in transportation planning with supervisory responsibilities. Strong knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and inventory control tools. Demonstrated expertise in process management. Familiarity with supply chain concepts including demand planning, production planning, procurement, freight forwarding (including NVOCC), and distribution management. Experience managing 3PL providers and coordinating complex logistics operations within a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications along with advanced skills in supply chain analytics for data-driven decision making. Excellent managerial communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively while fostering collaboration across departments. Strong understanding of inventory management practices within warehouse operations and distribution networks. Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement goals.
