Today, we provide more than 12,000 products to customers across Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arkansas. We are looking for a Transportation Routing Specialist to join our Springfield team. This position is responsible for planning and routing daily outbound customer deliveries and transfers to other company locations while balancing safety, efficiency, driver workloads, and customer service. Key Responsibilities Plan, organize, and assign daily customer orders and transfers to drivers to support safe, efficient, and timely deliveries. Develop a thorough understanding of SGC's routing system and use it effectively to optimize routes and driver workloads. Review and approve routes prior to release to drivers and other departments. Coordinate with Transportation, drivers, Sales, Operations, vendors, and other departments to ensure effective communication and execution of daily routes. Coordinate vendor backhauls and driver schedules to maximize transportation efficiency. Monitor routes and proactively identify, analyze, and resolve delivery or routing issues. Take ownership of issues through resolution and communicate changes or solutions to the appropriate parties. Maintain compliance with DOT regulations, transportation policies, safety procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations. Participate in transportation safety initiatives, audits, meetings, and training. Help identify opportunities to improve routing processes, transportation efficiency, and overall service. Work collaboratively with other departments to support customer service and company objectives. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous transportation, logistics, routing, dispatching, or related experience preferred. Experience with technology-based routing systems and electronic logging systems preferred. Working knowledge of DOT regulations and applicable transportation safety requirements. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to take ownership of issues and see them through to resolution. Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with drivers, transportation personnel, sales staff, vendors, and other internal and external customers. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and email. Ability to work safely and efficiently while meeting the physical requirements of the position. Must be available to work assigned schedules and occasional overnight travel, as needed. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to perform a variety of physical activities, including sitting, standing, walking, driving, lifting, pushing and pulling, using a dolly or hand truck, stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, and climbing in and out of trucks.
