TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Non-Contracted, Salaried Position
SUPERVISES AND EVALUATES:
Assist the Director and Assistant Director in the coordination and evaluation of the following:
- Routes, routing
- School Bus/Van Drivers
- School Bus/Van Aides
PRINCIPAL FUNCTION:
To coordinate and route district student transportation in accordance with school district operations, including the special education population, ensuring safe and efficient transportation of students to public and non-public schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the routing of all district and special education vehicles within current and future District guidelines to provide for the safe, timely and efficient transportation of children eligible for transportation by district policy or as a result of an IEP stipulation.
- Assist with scheduling of student transportation for public, non-public and special education schools.
- Assist with assigning substitute drivers and aides as needed and serve as a substitute driver when needed.
- Assist and work with Field Trip Coordinator to assign drivers weekly to uncovered field trips and as needed to field trips.
- Assist in maintaining communications with drivers during their assignments and supervise drivers in implementing routing and bus scheduling changes as required.
- Be responsive to all district parents with issues relating to transportation.
- Relay information between drivers, building principals, and special education administration relating to student transportation.
- Assist with the safety and security of district property and equipment.
- Responsible for responding to transportation e-mails or fowarding to the appropriate person.
- Assume any other duties assigned by the Director and/or Assistant Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma, Associate Degree in Business, Computer Science or a related field preferred.
- Valid PA Commercial Driver’s License (“CDL”) with necessary endorsements including air brakes, school bus, and passenger endorsement, with (5) years school bus driving experience without limitations.
- Routing/Dispatching experience required. Experience with TransFinder routing system preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, as well as other computer systems used in transportation department.
- Must have current “Probable Cause” Training and Certificate, or willing to obtain within6 months of hire.
- Possess or have ability to obtain PA State Driver Training Certification within 6 months of hire.
- Must have a well-versed knowledge of the Pennridge School District geographical area.
- Knowledge of all provisions of applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations concerning the safe operation of vehicles and the transportation of students.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, including the ability to relate effectively with District employees and parents.
- Must have all clearances necessary to work for a school district.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, maps, and procedural manuals.
- Assist the Director and Assistant Director with verification and approval of drivers’ punch time and data entry into K software program.
- Any additional or alternate qualifications as deemed appropriate by the School Board of Directors.
ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to work effectively in a professional office setting and maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks as needed.

MEDIUM WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally,
and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
HEAVY WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 75 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
VERY HEAVY WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert in excess of 100 lbs of force
occasionally, and in excess of 50 lbs of force frequently, and in excess of 20 lbs of force
constantly to move objects.
