Transportation Manager

Overview Tighe Logistics is seeking a dedicated and experienced Transportation Manager to oversee and optimize our transportation operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading transportation operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing logistics, and managing driver performance. Responsibilities Coordinates inbound and outbound shipments to meet delivery timelines and customer expectations. Ensures compliance with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, union contracts, environmental policies, state and federal transportation regulations. Monitors driver qualifications, hours of service, and safety training. Leads safety training programs and enforces a safety-first culture. Directs all maintenance, repair, and replacement of shipping equipment or vehicles. Coordinates with vendors and internal teams to ensure timely inspections and compliance with regulatory standards. Supervises drivers, dispatchers, and transportation personnel. Manages transportation budgets and identifies cost-saving opportunities. Streamlines workflows and integrate digital tools for reporting and compliance. Documents Processes and ensures process compliance. Addresses delays, disruptions, and service issues with urgency. Collaborates with internal teams to resolve shipment discrepancies. Ensures proactive communication and high service levels for clients. Manages relationship with existing customers, including regular communication, meeting established SLAs and expectations, planning and forecasting, addressing issues, etc. Implements and manages telematics, dispatch platforms, and tracking systems. Identifies and analyzes transportation costs, equipment availability and service levels, making recommendations and instituting corrective action. Generates operational reports on fleet utilization, delivery performance, and cost metrics. Presents actionable insights to leadership for strategic decision-making Uses data to identify trends, improve service levels, and support continuous improvement Maintains knowledge of best practices including the most efficient and cost-effective shipping methods. Maintains knowledge of regulations related to transportation including those related to hazardous shipments, employee safety, and freight classifications. Hires and trains transportation employees to ensure meeting departmental and company objectives. Oversees daily workflow, schedules and assignments of transportation employees. Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive for recommending promotions, wage increases, and terminations. Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policies. Applies sound communication and motivational techniques in supervising, coaching and disciplining employees Performs other related duties as assigned.
