Transportation & Logistics Coordinator

Our client, a well-established fishing and seafood processing company, is seeking an organized, customer-focused person to join their team as a Transportation & Logistics Coordinator at their Cape May, NJ location. This position will coordinate the daily movement of freight by dispatching company-owned and contracted trucks, filling return trips with backhauls, managing LTL shipments, and handling the paperwork behind every load. It's a fast-paced role for someone who likes solving problems, is able to juggle priorities, and can communicate well with drivers, carriers, and customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Dispatch company-owned and contracted trucks: plan routes, assign loads and track progress to make sure deliveries arrive on time.
• Book backhauls to reduce empty miles and improve fleet efficiency.
• Create freight purchase orders and prepare accurate, timely customer invoices
• Organize, schedule, and manage weekly LTL shipments, working with carriers to get the best service and rates.
• Act as a main point of contact for customers, drivers and carriers about shipment status, scheduling and problems.
• Keep shipping records, bills of lading, and other transportation documents accurate.
• Work with the sales, warehouse, and production teams to line up shipments with order and inventory needs.
• Resolve delays, discrepancies and service issues quickly and professionally.

Required Qualifications:

• Familiarity with load boards (DAT, Truckstop, etc.), and booking backhauls.
• Understanding how LTL and truckload shipping works.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Clear, professional communication by phone and email.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with a TMS or ERP system.
• Ability to stay calm and make good decisions under pressure.
• Experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, or freight brokerage.
• Experience in food, seafood, or refrigerated freight.

Salary Range: $50,000 to $60,000
