Transportation Logistics Coordinator

Job Summary J & J Transportation is seeking an organized, dependable, and detail-oriented Transportation Logistics Coordinator to support daily transportation operations and coordinate logistics activities. The ideal candidate has strong communication and problem-solving skills, excellent time-management abilities, and the ability to coordinate effectively with drivers, customers, dispatch personnel, and other team members. In this role, you will coordinate transportation schedules, organize routes and assignments, monitor trip progress, maintain logistics records, and communicate operational updates. Your work will help ensure transportation activities are completed efficiently, accurately, and on schedule. Key Responsibilities Coordinate daily transportation schedules, logistics activities, and service requests. Organize pickup and delivery arrangements, routes, and transportation assignments. Communicate schedules, route information, and operational instructions to drivers. Monitor trip progress and report delays, cancellations, or unexpected changes. Coordinate with dispatch personnel to manage driver and vehicle assignments. Communicate with customers regarding transportation schedules and service updates. Maintain accurate trip records, delivery documents, and logistics reports. Assist with preparing dispatch schedules, work orders, and transportation paperwork. Track vehicle availability and help coordinate transportation resources. Resolve routine scheduling conflicts and communicate operational issues to supervisors. Update transportation databases, spreadsheets, and scheduling systems. Coordinate with internal departments to support timely transportation services. Monitor service requests and follow up on outstanding transportation arrangements. Report vehicle maintenance concerns and other operational issues to the appropriate personnel. Maintain organized logistics files and administrative records. Follow company policies, transportation procedures, and workplace safety guidelines. Requirements and Qualifications Previous experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, supply chain, or operations coordination is preferred but not required. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. Basic computer skills and familiarity with email, spreadsheets, and scheduling software. Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping skills. Ability to coordinate multiple transportation requests simultaneously. Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team. Professional attitude when communicating with drivers, customers, and business partners. Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and operational priorities. Work Environment This position primarily involves working in a transportation and logistics operations environment. Daily activities may include coordinating schedules, communicating with drivers, monitoring transportation assignments, updating records, and supporting dispatch operations. Employees may work in an office or dispatch setting and occasionally coordinate with field personnel to address operational needs.
