We are actively looking for a Transportation Internship to join our Atlanta office. The Transportation Intern is an entry-level, temporary student role that supports project teams in a technical discipline such as engineering, planning, simulation, software development, CAD/BIM, or science. The intern who assists with a variety of transportation design projects, including roadway, municipal, port, rail, and traffic work, under close supervision. The role performs highly routine, straightforward assignments using foundational knowledge of transportation engineering principles and Moffatt & Nichol project workflows, with limited discretion to vary from established procedures Work is performed under direct supervision with detailed instructions, is reviewed before use, and has limited downstream impact. This is an individual-contributor role with no direct reports. Produces basic drawings, models, calculations, or code under direct supervision using approved tools (e.g., CAD/BIM, analysis, or programming software) Views, navigates, and measures 2D and 3D models to support the project team Follows established CAD/BIM, graphics, coding, and file-naming standards and plotting/publishing workflows Assists with engineering design tasks for roadway, municipal, rail, port, and traffic projects from preliminary to final design Assists with the development of specifications, cost estimates, and preparation of final bid packages Collects and organizes project and operational data for use as analysis or model inputs Performs basic numerical and statistical analysis and assists with testing, debugging, and validation of analysis or simulation models Documents assumptions, process flows, and results for supervisor review Receives corrections on delivered drawings or files and implements them accurately Resolves routine technical issues using documented standards and seeks guidance on unfamiliar tools or requirements Learns core M&N tools, standards, and workflows, applying academic coursework to assigned tasks Participates in intern orientation, training, and technical check-ins, and completes any assigned intern learning project Communicates task status to the direct supervisor and senior team members and asks clarifying questions Supports technicians, engineers, and project managers by delivering requested drawings, files, and data Other Duties: Please note this job posting is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
