By joining our Division of Structural Design as a Transportation Engineer Specialist in Franklin County, you’ll have the opportunity to design highway structures in accordance with KYTC requirements as well as in accordance with the AASHTO LRFD (Load and Resistance Factor Design) Bridge Design Specifications. Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: See Special Requirements. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have four years of engineering experience in addition to that required for licensure as a Professional Engineer. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience. Graduate work in engineering beyond a master's degree will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
