Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor. Essential Duties: Transportation Engineer II Assesses and reports actual project progress versus planned progress to determine trends and variances for complex projects. Assists Project Managers to establish realistic and achievable schedule baselines for complex projects. Assists Area Engineers with construction contract administration matters. Investigates materials failures or fabrication problems; reviews test data and assists in determining cause of failing materials. Oversees construction and audit records. Performs data collection, analyses, forecasts and plan development. Performs pavement designs and makes recommendations. Reviews shop drawings, plans, specifications, estimates, supplemental agreements and change order requests.
